I have no idea why my other half seems to think its okay to not update me about important finance issues. If you are balancing the checkbook that's fine, but at least give me a heads up before I go plan to spend something and then find out right before I buy it, that I can not.

That's not so good. I'm lucky that my other half leaves me to deal with all our finances so I know exactly where every penny is and what is being bought. He even asks me if we can afford to buy anything he wants.

Is he the only source of income in your family? If so, I worry he felt it's his money and he could do anything with it without telling you. I hope that's not the case. You need to talk to your spouse.

I am the one who does the finances around here so it is usually my husband asking if we can afford something or not. If your current system doesn't work for you find a way to do the finances together.
