If you split up, as a married couple, and there are existing debts would it be best to just split the repayments down the middle and maintain the status quo or would you speak to the lender and renegotiate separate loans?
I think the court usually divides up the debt. The husband would be responsible for certain bills and the wife would be responsible for certain bills and that would be finalized in the divorce decree.
