I can't say that I do this every time but 99% of the time I go shopping with a prepared list and coupons. I always make sure that my coupons are tidy so that I can find what I am looking for quickly. I also have a price for items I won't go above. For example I refuse to pay more than 50 cents for a box of cereal (I always buy name brand too). I end up saving so much money by just being organized.
I always shop with a list, but grocery prices in my area are just completely out of control and no matter what I do to try to keep our bill down it always costs a small fortune.

Whenever I do grocery shopping, I always carry a list with me. It makes shopping easier and saves both time and money. With the list on my hand, I know exactly which items to pick. I haven't had much luck organizing coupons though.
I try to be organized - lately I have not found great coupons. I would love to find cereal for less then 50 cents a box. Where are you finding such great coupons? Most of the stores near me don't even have great sales anymore.
I do shop with a list that I keep on the fridge and add to as the week progresses. But I also make a point of buying in quantity when there is a good sale price on items that we use. I'll stock up even if it's not on my list. We don't have many great coupons where I shop, maybe because it's a small town.
I do the same and I limit myself to how many things are ever purchased when they are not on the list. Unless its a necessity that was actually lost off the list, the limit is two.
I actually shop at Kroger and they double coupons up to $1 (that is how I get the cheap cereal). I have my coupons organized in a photo album (the type with pockets not the binder style). I do purchase off list items if it is on sale and is something we use a lot of.
