Knowing that the stock market has not been kind to anyone lately, what do you think is the best type of stock to look into. I'm not asking for specifics but I'm asking for a general direction. Does anyone know.

I like to go with big companies. Although lately that hasn't been proven fool proof. I like companies like Coke, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson. I even gambled with Ford when it was under $5 a share.

I stay away from penny stocks.

My tax guy likes index funds. He thinks they are more stable.

I'm afraid of any type of stock right now. I never in my life thought I would see big companies go under bankruptcy protection like I have lately. This economy really scares me and I can't wait until it gets better!
