I just started a compost bin this year and I was just wondering how often I need to turn it? It is starting to grow quite nicely but I know I need to turn it or stir it to keep it "working". Does anyone know?

I usually turn mine at least twice a week. If it's working properly you can still turn it in the winter because it won't freeze. The decomposition of the materials will still keep it warm and unfrozen unless you have some really deep, deep freezes. I'm in the mid east and ours has never frozen yet.

I'm curious about learning more. I only have a patio at my home. Would it be possible to still have one? I hadn't tried yet because I don't have any land.
