Default Composting Kitchen Waste

My mother is the champ when it comes to recycling her kitchen waste . She keeps the day's worth of veggy and fruit peelings, coffee grounds, bread crusts and whatever else she can save. Then she puts it all into a blender and feeds her plants individually with the liquid or adds it to the compost pile. Anything too big to blend, gets put in the compost pile as well.

I try and compost as much as I can. I will do chicken bones every now and again. But I toss stuff in whole into my compost. If I use bones I bury them. After they are cleaned by the worms, I let them dry and then crush them up for bone meal.

I've done this at times but I don't do it as much as I should. It does make a difference when I keep it up. You all have inspired me to start back up again and I will keep at it this time.

I have never thought about feeding it to the plants. I did not even know that people did this. Is it some kind of food? I don't have many house plants. We take ours and put it in the garden. In the spring, we roto-til it into the ground.

I need to start doing this. Every time I throw produce scraps in the garbage, I think about what a waste it is. Thanks for the inspiration!
