Default Eating Locally

I have been trying to eat produce and fruits that have been locally produced. However, they are quite expensive. I've been to the farmer's market almost every time they have been open and I love it. I do have to limit what I buy because of price, but the stuff tastes so much better than the stuff you buy at the grocer.

That's been my experience as well, Claudia. The food tastes wonderful, but it costs considerably more. I could never afford to eat locally grown food exclusively, but it's nice to splurge for your health and your taste buds.

You can get some great buys at the farmer's market if you hit up the booths just before closing. The farmers don't want to lug home all of their goods to spoil so they will likely give you a good deal.

Do you guys remember when buying fresh, local food was cheaper than the grocery store? And it used to be cheaper to make things from scratch. Now it's the opposite. If I was willing to feed my family Hamburger Helper every night my grocery bill would be a fraction of what it is.

I heard that whole foods does this but their prices are somewhat reasonable depending on what you are buying. I am not even sure where the closest store is but if you have one it might be worth checking their prices out.
