Default Kitty Litter

I have cats and I feel like a lot of litter goes to waste when I clean the boxes each week. Is there such a thing as green kitty litter? I feel like all that litter is going to end up in a landfill just sitting there and I feel bad about it.

I clean our at least twice a week and we have 2 boxes. I don't know about "green litter", but it would be a great thing. I know some people who use sawdust (they own a sawmill).

Wow, sawdust? I didn't know that was possible. Do you know if the cats react strangely to it or maybe don't like it? I do want to make sure it's something they will definitely use.

I don't think there is anything like what you are looking for Tila. Litter is toxic with chemicals, because it is handling waste. If you can come up with an idea that is green and the cats would actually use, we'd like to know too. We can always try to toilet train the cats.

Clay kitty litter is fairly natural. I've never heard of using sawdust. I've thought of maybe adding something like gravel. Anything to cut down on the amount of dust is a good thing for everybody, you and your kitty.

My outside cats, love to use the bathroom in my potted plants. Too bad, you can not just use dirt in the litter box. I am sure someone is working on green cat litter, if it is not already out there.

I've heard of a corn-based kitty litter. It's fairly new I think. If I'm remembering correctly, it's called something like The World's Best Kitty Litter. I would imagine it's expensive, but it might be worth it if you've searched high and low for a litter solution. Some cats are more finicky than others.
