We don't have a recycling facility within a reasonable driving distance and that makes being environmentally friendly with the trash difficult. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do about it?

We actually have 2 recycling plants near us. Does your garbage company offer recycling too? You could just separate the recyclables and put it out with the garbage.

We have recycling pickup. Our new trash service we just switched to - picks up bags every Friday. But we do not get paid for it. I am starting to save the aluminum cans for a friend who will take them in for money. We do not have the glass bottle exchange like in NY. I made a ton of money as a kid in NY picking up glass and cans.

Luckily, finding means to recycle some items isn't a problem for us. There is a recycling facility is a drive-away from our home...Also, we put the recyclables in a particular bin and the trash service picks them up.
