Default Personal Turbines

Is it possible to get small wind turbines and some sort of generator to power your home? I'd really like to get independent of the electric company.

Though it is not impossible, I think it's still a bit difficult for us to completely independent from the electric company. Solar power and wind power are great but we couldn't completely depend on them yet.

Yes, wind and solar power availability will vary depending on the weather. In terms of reliability, I think the better option is a personal water turbine, if its feasible in your location.

I've heard of companies creating personal wind turbines that attach to the roof or a pole. Not sure on the costs, or if they are available to the public. I am sure there has to be someone out there that does have a model available to the public.
