Default "Re-purposing" items

I love the idea of "re-purposing" items. (I love that word.) I find it to be a creative challenge. Do you have an all time favorite way that you "re-purposed" an item?

I re-purpose a lot of things to the garden. I make them into ornaments of some sort, and I have even started making wind chimes.

I made a bench for my garage and used baby food jars with the lids screwed onto the bottom of the bench to hold screws and nails and such. I also use coffee cans to hold assorted screws/nails/washers/or anything else I can think of.

I use plastic bottles like those that milk comes in, to make scoops out of for dog food, cat food and bird seed. You just use the handle and cut out a scoop shape around that. Easy.

I like re-purposing things so that they don't quickly wind up at the landfill. My favorites are milk jugs as watering cans and toothbrushes as a tool for cleaning hard to reach corners such as the faucet and its surrounding areas.

I am still amazed how many people are new to this. Was everyone hit with the memory bug? Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

If I can not reuse something when the main purpose is done, I will not buy it. That helps to keep clutter from my home too!

I love repurposed items. I don't really have a favorite as I am not really crafty, but I love to see where other people have been creative. I think the wind chimes are a great idea. I might be able to do something like that.
