Default Recycling limits

Our place has crazy restrictions on things that I have found in other cities to be "normal things to recycle". Is this something that changed in the past few years?

Example; a yogurt container even though its clearly recyclable I can not ask my local group to pick up in our bin - otherwise they reprimand you.

I think a lot has to do with the city itself, and the boundaries they want to set. Where I live we can recycle almost anything. I've never had anything turned away.

I wish we were that lucky. We are unable to toss out the containers that like sour cream, butter, etc. all come in. Anything that is a colored container is on the no list. I have never had this issue anywhere else and I have lived in about 1/2 a dozen states and countless cities and smaller towns.
