Default Selling electricity back to the electric company?

I have heard that if you have solar panels and/or a windmill you can sell you can get a special electric meter that will run backwards during times when you are producing more electricity than you use. Has anyone ever heard of this?

Yes you can do this but this option is not available everywhere. Don't think you'll make a bunch of money off of doing this but you might make enough to pay for the electricity that you use during times when it's not sunny/windy. Call your electric provider and they can tell you if this is available in your area.

Some companies will be a pain to do so with. Ours is like that. The other power company I had offered lots of discounts and other goodies and made it easier to sell back. Like FreecycleRocks said, check with your local power company. Usually the solar companies know which ones are good to deal with and which ones are not also.
