I am really interested in cooking meals in a solar oven. Has anyone tried this and does it actually work? Does it make a significant impact on your electric usage? I'd love some suggestions for something that actually works, not just as a novelty.

There is one called the sun oven and it is supposed to be pretty good. It costs between 200-300 dollars.

Also, when you want to cook in a solar oven, you need to be sure to use dark cookware.
