Does anyone use solar panels for back up electricity? We are in the process of renos and we have to re wire the house so I was wondering how effective it is for back up?

I talked to the local solar power company today. He told me it costs around 30k to reduce monthly power bill by $129. Government gives 30% back of costs. The state used to offer $4 per Kilowatt, but our new governor cut that.

It would be nice, but out of my price range.
