Default Steam cleaners, do they work?

I've been seeing the commercials on television for a portable steam cleaner and was wondering if these things actually work. Now they even have a steam mop for kitchen floors. They make it look so easy and efficient.

Does anyone have one of these and think it live up to its advertising?

I've been wanting to get one of the steam mops, but I'm not sure which brand is best. I'm sure they're great to have as long as you get the right one. I have a steam vac that I use for the carpets and I love it.

My husband bought one years ago and I ended up throwing it out. Maybe I just couldn't get the hang of it but it was supposed to be good for washing windows but had so many warnings about cracking the glass that I was afraid to try it!

I have one and I love it. I have a Haan that I brought from their mall display kiosk. The trick is to buy one from their catalog because there are better steamers in there than the ones on display and they may not show you those if you don't ask.

I was talking to a friend of mine tonight and she said she wants one too. She said that she thinks she wants a Shark and I've looked at that brand, but I'm not convinced yet that it's the way to go. I've never even heard of Haan, but I'm going to look into it now.

One of the women at work had one and loaned it to me a few years back. It worked great at getting the grime off my hubcaps.

I have never had the portable ones, I went and got one at Walmart because we have 3 little ones plus the animals so it ended up costing less than renting one every time.
