Default Tinting House Windows?

The windows at the front of my house are in direct line with the hot afternoon sun. It's not so bad in the winter time but during the summer, it will actually melt the plastic blinds that I put up. It gets so hot that I have to close the drapes but I would rather not. Do you think that if I have my windows tinted with automobile window tinting that this will help?

They sell house window tint. Most home improvement stores will carry it. I think it is around $30 a roll depending on the size of the roll, and which tint you get. They will sell different types. Some allow little or no light through, some are for heat reduction, some will make the window looked like stained glass.

Thanks for that tip, Jason! I have the same trouble and I'll go investigate the local hardware store for that. I would love to have something to block the rays of the sun that fade out the furniture. We have a Westerly facing picture window and it's insane in the summer.
