Default Tire Stack Potatoes

I have heard a fantastic idea about growing potatoes the other day. Someone took a stack of old tires that weren't good for anything else and filled the stack with good soil and compost. Then plant your potatoes in the soil. I saw a guy the other day who had three of these stacks in his back yard and he said he had tons of potatoes from them last year. Sounds like a good idea for old tires to me!

That's definitely an interesting idea! How many tires do you have to stack in order for it to be deep enough for potatoes? Also, I would have to find something to plant around the tires so it doesn't look like I have stacks of old tires in my yard.

Yes, I would like to know how many tires per stack also and it sounds like a great idea, we even have some old tires and it certainly is better then letting them gather water for mosquitoes! I bet you could even plant other things in them to.

Wow, that does sound like a good way to put old tires to use now a days, especially when you don't really have a lot of places to dump them. I do think we might have some around here.

Try this article.

powering down: never tired of potatoes

By the time I read about this though, it was too late to plant in my area of the country. I am anxious to try this next year though and I hope it turns out well.

Good idea. There are tons of used tires at our local scrap yard. I would love to try this but it's going to have to wait until next year.

I would have to hide them behind something. I don't think I could get away with having them in the front of our house. Now, in the back, I may get by with it.
