Default Wasps!

We are having a terrible time with wasps around our house. I don't know how to repel them. Unfortunately, to keep my wife and my grandchildren safe, I've had to use wasp and hornet spray. I don't like the chemicals either but it's either us or them and I choose us. Is there a way to naturally repel them.

I'd like to know if anyone has natural repellant ideas too. I use the spray as well, but I'm all for anything that reduces my chemical exposure. Unfortunately, there is no way to co-exist with wasps.

Nasty little things aren't they. We have paper wasps and mud daubbers both. Mud daubbers aren't as aggresive but will sting if they can. I'm not sure but I think I'm starting to become allergic to the nasty things. The last time I got stung I didn't think anything about it after it stopped stinging but several hours later, I started itching in several different spots, not all over. I can't think of anything else that would make me itch like that so I have to attribute it to the waspers.

Are they getting into your house? If not then they will probably stay out of your way. But there's nothing wrong with spraying the nests if you have to. Most times I will just knock the nests down and they'll find a new home.

I live in the country too and I just recently went to grill something and found a nest had moved in under the grill hood! Took me by surprise. I didn't want chemicals around the food prep area so I just lit the grill and let them burn. I hated to do it but they are dangerous to my youngest, he has allergies to wasp and bee stings. We are always having to spray some somewhere or other to keep him safe.

You can buy a wasp or yellow jacket trap that will attract them and then they can't get out. I can't think of where I saw the last one. I think I may have been in Tractor Supply or one of the agro stores. They are shaped so that the bug gets in but it can't find it's way out. Very nice and no chemicals.
