Default What Do You Recycle?

I know the usual things like paper, plastic, and such. But what are some other things you can recycle to help keep them out of the trash. One thing I do is to use my old shower curtains for doggy pee pads. I cut them up and use old towels in two layers on top and sew the whole thing together. It really works great, they are washable and I've saved a few bucks on pee pads.

We try to reuse things like old socks or t-shirts for various household chores - dusting, waxing, etc. We also reuse paper that's only written on one side. The kids like to draw on those.

Old clothes can be turned into rags. I've done a compost pile when I was younger and would like to try it again when I get a big yard.

I use the free paper they send twice a week for fire starters.

I am sure there is more, but I cannot remember at the moment.

I use freecycle it's a great place where you can find and redistribute all sorts of items. You sign up for a local listserv and you can post things to get rid of or pick things up. The idea is to keep things out of the dumps and landfills. Our dump has a recycling center, and you can do all sorts of things there-- electronics, furniture, paint, oil, wood, and the standard sorts of things.
