Default Any tips for removing wallpaper?

My friend just bought a house and at least half of the rooms have flowery wallpaper that she does not like. She asked me if I knew anything about taking it down without destroying the walls. I'm at a loss here.

Anyone know an easy, non-destructive way of taking wallpaper down?

I've heard you can use Dawn dishwashing liquid and the paper will come off easily. I once tried vinegar and water but it didn't work well for me. You can also hire a steamer especially made to steam down the paper.

You going to think this is crazy, but the best thing to take wallpaper off is fabric softener. You but it in a spray bottle and spray it down, let it sit and soak on there for awhile and it should peel right off. For stubborn spots, lay a rag soaked in the softener on top of the spot.
