Default Caulking for Winter

How do you find out where you need to caulk around the house for energy savings? I know we need to but I don't know if I can find all of the holes. Is there any way to test for spaces?

Some energy companies will do an audit, some even free. But they do something like close all the windows and doors, and then open the front door and put a big old fan in the door way and check for air leaks.

You can try doing something similar by taking a lit candle and moving it slowly around things like windows and outlets. If there is an air flow the candle will flicker.

Yep, we use the candle trick. I basically do a whole once over on the entire house every winter. I know that seems excessive, but with the cost of gas I have to do it.

I hate to admit that we have never done this. I got a book that suggested it be done so I am going to buy all the tools and do it for the first time this year.
