Default Cool Ceiling Fan

We have a ceiling fan in almost every room and we use them. In winter, they keep the air circulating and the heat off of the ceiling. In the summer, they keep the air moving so we don't have to set the air as low. This year we replaced two of our fans and got this new style. It comes with two separate blade assemblies, set one above the other. When the fan is on, one assembly goes in one direction and the other assembly goes the other way. They are super quiet and really move the air.

We have ceiling fans in most of our rooms also and they are good to have. I've never seen this type you are talking about though. They do sound neat. I'll have to check around for them the next time we need to replace a fan.

We need to get two new ones and I hear Hunter makes a few nice ones. What other brands are there? I plan to head out this weekend and check around a few shops close to us.

It's only the master bedroom that has a ceiling fan installed although we once considered having on in our small entertainment/family room. I wish to find something similar to what you described. The last thing we would want is the noise from the fan interfering with the audio when we're watching.

They sound pretty cool! I'm in the market for 2 new fans, 1 for my daughters bedroom and the other for the living room. I'm heading to Lowe's today! About how much were the ones you are talking about?

I wish I had these but I don't. I always loved them and think they are super useful for refreshing the air. I have some smaller table and floor fans in the house but that's not the same.

The ones I'm talking about were fairly expensive. I think they were around $200. each and I believe we bought them at The Home Depot. But I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for. My mother has those cheap ones that whine and I can't stand that annoying sound.

We have one, but we don't use it. It seems easier and more effective to just turn on the AC/heat. I suppose they are a good (and even stylish) option for some households.

Hayley, I've never seen the kind of fans you are talking about. Are they supposed to be more efficient? I have 3 ceiling fans including one on the screened in deck. It's nice.

I didn't think ceiling fans could do that much for a place. I may need to take a look at some apartments I've passed up recently!
