Default Decorating the Nursery

I'm expecting a baby at the end of the year and am so excited I want to get started on the nursery as soon as possible. My only dilema is I want to find out if it's going to be a boy or girl first so I can specialise the room. I have the blues and pinks picked out already so it's just wait and see!

What fun it is decorating a nursery! I didn't know the gender of my daughter so I just used neutral colors for the most part and then "girlied it up" after she was born. Do you have a specific theme you're using (like clowns, angels, teddies, etc.) ?

I loved decorating when my kids were in utero. I went with a gender neutral theme, Peter Rabbit, and did as katharina mentioned, threw in some extra blues once I knew I was having a boy. Just have fun with it whatever you do!

First, let me say congratulations!

The last time I helped decorate a nursery was with my sister-in-law who did find out she was having a little baby boy. She really wanted to stick with the blues for the wall color and then she went with a ocean motif.

Besides the colors, have you pick out any characters or themes for the decoration?

My husband and I just bought our first house and our daughter is 5 months old so I am just now getting to decorate her nursery (we live in a studio apartment currently so no nursery just a crib!). I am so excited we decided to paint a light yellow and she loves Winnie the Pooh so we are getting some decals to put on the wall with the Pooh theme. I can't wait to see how it looks when we are done!

I too am expecting and went to buy some of that strip wallpaper that goes around the room. Usually they have Winnie the Pooh or popular childrens prints on them. You know the ones? Well I saw on the price tag it said 9 metres for $25, usually $50. I went through the checkout and it still came up as $50 each as someone had put that particular sort on the wrong shelf. I was so angry as I thought I'd found a bargain, and wasn't about to pay $100 for 18 by 1/2 metre wallpaper. Doesn't that annoy you?

How disappointing Mel, I hate it when that kind of thing happens. If I even whispered the word wallpaper my husband would probably kill me after all the trouble we had getting it down in this house.
