Default Fence! Almost there!

We are putting up a privacy fence and I am so glad. Every since the economy started struggling our neighborhood has gone down hill. We are nearly done! Anyone else building a privacy fence this year?

Well we can't afford a privacy fence...I wish but we are putting up a fence this year. We've got all the materials, but I think it's going to have to wait until it cools off a little.

We were able to minimize the cost of our privacy fence by doing it ourselves and giving up concrete. Instead we used a time-tested, and aged old method of packing in layers of dirt and rocks.

We did the first few posts with cement and then we met a guy who came over ans showed us how to do that for free. It is amazing that the ones we did with that method are just as sturdy as concrete, and it's free!

I had one done at the new house. One reason, and the main was for the dogs. Second was for privacy. Third was paranoia, and only a really small percentage why. I did not want others to see what I have back there. I am not hording gold or anything, but have a good size garden, a trailer and a large amount of oak and citrus wood. All things that could be considered good stuff if things ever hit the fan.

I would love to have a very high one but it is not in the budget just yet. I know some ladies like the idea of it for nude tanning but for me I would be too worried that Google would start taking some photos or something, I just want my privacy to enjoy my yard.

Glad we aren't the only paranoid ones worrying about stuff hitting the fan. Actually seems like a fair amount of like minded people here. We are putting in a chain link fence to start with and planning to convert to privacy as time and money allow. We have to have something quick and pretty inexpensive first so our kids and dogs can play in the backyard. Just found out there is a child molestor as a neighbor though so privacy fence just moved up the list quite a few notches.
