Default Fire Pit

How beneficial is a fire pit? Is there anyone here who has one? Is there any pros or cons? Can a brick or concrete fire pit raise the value of a home? Would it be a significant feature to help only in selling a home?

I've seen some really nice ones, and some poor ones. To me it is great. I just toss the brush when I clean up in it. I do not have to haul it to the dumps. It provides a place when the weather is cooler to have people gather when we have gatherings. I also have a small cooking section which I enjoy. There are nights where after I put the kids to bed I may just light it up and sit near it for a few hours.

As far as house value. If done right, and the person looking wants one, it may help. But to me it is like a pool. Not everyone wants one. I do not see it adding any extra value to the house like a pool may though.

I don't know if it will raise the value of the home but they sure are nice to have. We sit in front of our firepit all the time in the summer. I love it! So for your own enjoyment I would build it.

We have just a homemade type of one and we love it. We site around it all the time late in the afternoon. We've roasted hot dogs over it and marshmallows. It makes for a fun time.

I would get one if we had the room for it. Right now the next project when the weather breaks is more landscape work in the backyard so its a possibility that this time next year we will join the crowd.

I would get one too but I keep thinking we would not use it as much as we "think" we would. A friend of mine has an outdoor heating lamp that she said is amazing, I wonder if we should go that route?
