Default Getting rid of cigarette smell

Anyone know of a good way to get rid of cigarette smell in a room? I've tried sprays and opening windows but it's really bad.

Stick a room deodorant at the back of the electric fan and turn it on full blast to circulate the pleasant smell. Open the windows wide for about 15 minutes to let our the stale air.

It's hard to get out if it is stuck in the carpet and the smell can even be stuck in the walls depending on how long smoking went on there. I would just try to continue airing it out every day and you may try shampooing the carpet.

I think Craftymama is right. Time is usually what it takes. If you have carpet, steam clean the carpet. If you have drapes, wash or replace the drapes. Eventually, the smell will go away, but it takes a while.

I agree-shampoo the carpet with a cleaner designed for cigarette smells. And then don't smoke in that room in future so that it doesn't happen again-keep it outside.

Those are all good ideas. One more is to repaint. I know that`s a lot of work but it works. And not smoking inside will help get rid of it eventually.

As a former painter I can tell you that it's probably going to take a paint job you can also try baking soda sprinkled in the carpet and furniture and vaccuum it up.

You may be scrubbing the carpets like I have lately since I quit smoking. I have just about been on an early spring cleaning kick for the past 6 weeks and while its a pain, I am thakful I am at least getting the smell out.
