Default Graveling The Driveway

We live in the country and honestly, I don't want a paved driveway. I would like to think that eventually the drive will return to nature if it's not used. My question is, what size gravel do you think I should go with. Pea gravel would go into the ground too quick I know, should I go up two or three sizes? I know I don't want to have it hard to walk on.

Go up at least once size. Do you get a good bit of snow or rain in your area? I know sometimes it can get washed away if you are not setting up a boarder but I have only seen that done twice before. Most people just replace the gravel when needed.

Our previous home had a gravel driveway and we had like rock size pieces. We still had to get at least one truckload every year to fill in the gaps, because it would wash away. At least the pea sized kind won't ruin your lawnmower or bust out your windows.

I almost wish we had a paved driveway but I hear they are pretty slick when its rainy or snow covered. You would think we could really come up with something better, sometime non-slick and something that will not wash away after a rain.

I hate walking on gravel in heeled shoes, that's all I can say. I'd go for the largest you can find and be prepared for weeds because they do grow through eventually.

My father used to get that gravel they used for roads. Where you drove on it, and it compacted into a hard surface. Not sure if it got it through the town when he worked for them or not. I can see if I can find the name if you want, but I doubt he would remember.
