Default Home Depot or Lowes

I prefer to shop at Home Depot where my husband prefers to shop at Lowes. Do you have a preference between Home Depot and Lowes, or do you not care?

Most of the time I don't really care. Home Depot is closest to us so we shop there the most. I have found some things at Lowes that HD didn't have but I think both are pretty much the same to me.

I don't really care either, but I do tend to lean toward Lowe's if I have a choice. My husband prefers Lowe's as well, so it works out for us.

Lowes tends to be more expensive on most products, but not all. Lowes is also geared more towards the average home owner.

Home Depot is geared more towards the contractor, better wood, and is priced better typically.

Thankfully they are right across the street so I can check both.

I don't have much of a choice since Lowe's is the only one we have in town. If I go to the nearest Home Depot, we're talking about a 140 mile round trip. Not a good thing in this mega expensive fuel time.

Honestly I don't like either! I think Lowe's is overpriced for almost everything. Home Depot near me is always understocked with a lot of bare shelves. I tend to shop at the local small family owned hardware store.

We really do not have many family hardware stores left. We do have a great mill about 20 minute drive. It is nice when you buy a piece of wood and it is true dimension, and they carry cypress. The only problem is if you want to use it for finished products you have to dry it and plane it.

We have a couple local hardware stores left. I will shop there first. They don't always have what I need so if I need to go to a large hardware store I will go to whichever has the better price.

Home Depot is closer for us and honestly in our area the prices are better. Why would I drive the distance three times over to pay higher prices?

Home Depot here is better. The staff are more helpful, and the prices are usually lower. The staff at Lowes are just rude and very hard to find.
