Default Nasty grout in the shower

Can someone please tell me something besides straight bleach that will clean the grout between the tile in the shower? I have bought countless bathroom cleaners and none of them seem to work. I hate having to use bleach because it smells bad for the rest of the day!

I am guessing you have already tried Tilex? Maybe after you get it clean this time you should use one of those cleaners you spray after each shower.

If straight bleach doesn't work, you may have to replace the grouting. It's not fun or easy, but you may have to do it in order to get rid of the mold. Make sure you ventilate the space well before and after you spray the bleach on. You may have to wait until spring when it gets warmer so you can leave the windows and doors open to ventilate it.

Have you tried making a paste out of Oxy Clean and putting it on the grout for about 30 minutes, then scrubbing off? I have always had luck with Oxy Clean. I really wish I could remember the stuff I purchased a few years back before we renovated our bathroom. I bought it at Home Depot and it worked like magic. It made my grout look good as new.

I see tons of commercials for the stuff that comes in the dark purple bottle but right now the name slips me. It might be best if you can find a way sanitize it and then re-grout.

Did anybody happen to see that commercial about grout pens? They claim it can go right over your old grout, and it looks brand new. Though, I do not know about some of these commercials. I would make sure they have a money back guarantee.

I have also tried Oxy Clean and it works wonders. I'm intrigued about the grout pens. This sounds like something that I would like to try.

I have a Shark hard surface steamer and that gets rid of everything. I used it to get all the built up grime behind my stove and the gunk that builds up around the edges of the kitchen sink.

I have some grout cleaner that works pretty well. The only problem is when you're applying it to wall tiles, it needs a couple of applications because it just washes down. I've also used one of those steam cleaners. They do a great job, although I found that the tiny brush attachment got destroyed quickly and I wasn't able to get a replacement.

I would make a paste of baking soda, lemon juice and vodka. Vodka is a great cleaner for grimy things, and the lemon juice helps brighten white areas. The baking soda would add an extra, "exfoliating" kick.
