I know that paint helps to seal up the house, especially when you have a crawl space underneath (keeping more heat in, etc.) but how often should you have to repaint? We still have about 3 rooms unpainted, no idea what to do with them and figure we should change that pretty soon before winter kicks in full force.

I've read that you should paint every five to eight years. That's just a guesstimate, of course, and it all depends on the quality of the paint. If a room gets only a small amount of traffic, you can probably add a year or two to the estimate.

I would say 5-8 years is probably a good estimate. You just have to use your best judgment. If the paint starts to look faded or dirty then it is probably time to repaint.

I would say any time you feel the urge to repaint then go for it. Me, I'd wait until it looked like it needed it. I have a friend who repaints her kitchen and dining area every year.

Well if you are talking about the outside, I would say about every 5 years would be just fine. As to the inside, probably more frequent then that, depends on how messy the walls get.

Anything between five to ten should be fine. I think it depends on the type of paint you are using too, some tend to actually last long & protect better than others (the cheaper ones that is).
