If you were going to redo the outside of your home which would you pick? Would you side it or paint it? My parents are going to have one done this summer, I said siding.

Siding for sure - much easier upkeep! Painting a house looks nice but you have to scrape the old paint off and then paint it again. Paint only lasts for so long too.

I live in a concrete block house, so I would paint it. Another reason is my nephew has a contracted painting business, so of course, I use him at discount rates. I think it depends on where your houses' located, environmental elements, and your budget. Isn't siding a lot more expensive?

There are pros and cons to both. I love siding for its ease of upkeep, but the color you pick is it...you can't change it if you get tired of it without repeating the expense. I'm kind of in that boat now. 7 years ago when I sided my house I did it in a really pretty light greyish-green color. I get compliments on it all the time, and I don't see the color often. Now, 7 years later I'm getting tired of the green and wish I had done it in a taupe or cream.

I have T1-11 Siding which is a wood siding. I'm saving up to get it replaced with vinyl. The wood is rotting and soft in some spots and it really needs to go. So my vote would be siding rather then paint.

Painting is good but it's little troublesome, I say siding is much easier.

Well you know what they say - vinyl is final, so for less upkeep over the years, siding is definitely the way to go. Painting is a lot of work and can be costly if you don't do it yourself.

As the wife of a painter I would go with vinyl siding everytime. We got lucky and found a brick house, but vinyl would have been my second choice.

My significant other and I are actually in negotiations on color choices right now for vinyl siding. We have a wood sided house and the paint is peeling and looks horrible. I would pick siding given the choice because it is so much easier.

Neither honestly, we have siding now and while the upkeep is great I would much prefer brick. Now if brick is out of the question all together I would end up staying with the siding just because any damage is easy to replace.
