Default rewire the full house

I know this is going to cost some money and while I its not a DIY for me I would still like to save some money. Has anyone here had to rewire their entire house for electrical stuff? How can I lessen the load of what I will be spending??

You can shop around with different electrical contractors but in the end I don't think this is something you just want to get the cheapest person to do. We had our meter upgraded in amps and that wasn't cheap either. Go with someone you feel comfortable dealing with.

It's going to be expensive - I imagine they will have to tear down walls and everything. I don't know how to make it cheaper and I would not make it a DIY project. I would just shop around and get references.

No, it certainly doesn't sound like it is going to be a cheap project and you do want to make sure you get some good references. This is your home that you are living in and you want to make sure it is wired right.

I might drop dead if someone ever told me we had to rewire our place, its huge to start with and trying to rerun all of it would not be an easy task. Do you have a fully closed off attic space?
