Default Using Plastic

I have been thinking about putting plastic around the front of my porch leaving just the gate area open. I think this would help to knock the wind off of the door and may help to save us a bit of money.

I've seen it done several times. People also put plastic on their windows. I don't do either - I heat with a wood stove so I have to open the windows from time to time in the winter (gets too hot in here).

I have honestly never seen this, is it something new people are doing? We really do not get high winds or anything but it does get chilly since we are not in a brick house and I would love to have a wood stove!

Oh, no this is not new. In our old house we did this every year, and actually a couple of people in our new neighborhood still do it. This is just a way to keep the wind from creeping in the windows. The plastic makes a HUGE difference if you have an older home with older windows.

I am wondering what type plastic. Is it panels of plastic, or plastic on a roll, or something? I have never heard of this, either. I may be able to use this on my windy porch.
