Default Using Salvaged Lumber ‎

Has anyone here done this before? I was reading online that there are some junk yard type places that will either sell off unused lumbar for a smaller fee (than brand new) or give it away to keep it in use and not clutter some.

I have read some things like that. You can salvage some usable hard wood lumber from some places and you can make something beautiful and valuable from such.

There is a place not far from us that specialises in this sort of thing. They sell reclaimed tiles and bricks as well as railway sleepers and wrought iron gates. I have even seen old garden ornaments from Victorian houses but it isn't cheap.

Green companies like this that reclaim and resell wood, tiles and such like are popping up all over the place. We bought our carpet tiles from such a company that reclaims industrial carpet tiles and resells them.

Here if you let a house go (leave it abandoned) and do not pay the taxes or take care of it they can take the house. Many of these houses are parted out. The dismantle the house and half of the materials go to our local habitat to humanity and the rest are sold to the public cheap. It is a good system.
