Default vacuum cleaners and allergies

I'm looking at getting a new vacuum cleaner specifically for minimizing allergens. A HEPA vacuum would probably be best, don't you think? I want something that is effective at controlling both allergens and dust mites.

Are you the one with allergies? The quality of vacuum you'll probably want is very expensive. You'll have to clean it out when the filter is dirty or it won't be as effective. I don't have allergies, but I have a friend that does and she can't even empty the waste with all the dust that goes everywhere. She has to have her husband do it for her.
