If you had the choice, would you prefer vinyl flooring over carpet? I just think carpeting holds in and keeps a lot of dust and germs.

I would rather have vinyl flooring. It is easier to clean and to keep clean and can take a lot more traffic than carpet.

I don't know that is a tough choice. I think I would pick vinyl flooring not because I like it better but because it collects less dust and is better for homes with asthmatics.

We are about to redo our kitchen and baths (1 full and a 1/2) right now this is something we are considering but I have never picked out flooring. I hate the idea of things trapped though and laying dormant, creeps me out!

I would rather have laminate. I have done one bathroom in it and with the padding under it, the floor stays so much warmer in the winter. It's easy to clean too and is very durable. I want to do the whole house in it as I can. It's not really hard to install either.

It depends which room. We have vinyl in the kitchen and bathroom and carpet in the bedroom and living room. We also have a mat in the bathroom. Vinyl is easier to keep clean in places that are likely to get greasy or wet.
