I am finally breaking down and buying one of those fancy cameras! A lady I've known for around a year and a half is selling her Canon Rebel with all of the accessories too!
Is a Canon Rebel an SLR camera? If so, congratulations! Those are the best. I have had mine for years and I absolutely LOVE it. It's nice to have the different lens sizes and be able to get super close.
I need a new camera too! I have a Kodak EasyShare and it's awesome. My friend just bought a new Cannon sureshot (I think that was the name). I love hers too. I'm stuck with Kodak though, I live near their headquarters and I just feel a sense of loyalty.
Canon Rebels are a good DSLR starter camera. They will let you sharpen your skills and there is a lot that you can play with on the settings to learn technical stuff. I would love to see some pictures that you have taken with it when you get it, I am really into photography!
