Default iPod washed

Oh no I washed my child's iPod and now it will not hold a charge. Looks like I'll be buying a new iPod and I really don't want to so close to Christmas! Anyone know how to make it better?

You could try taking it apart and blow drying the parts but usually when electronics get wet like that they are ruined, I think the parts start to corrode.

Oh no! That stinks major. What won't work with it? How long ago did you do this? I'm thinking that if it's been a bit, there is no hope for it. If you just did it, you could try to put it in with a big of rice.

Sometimes if you just let electronic stuff sit out and dry, it'll be just fine. But when water contains contaminants the electronic device is pretty much trash.

Assuming that you can't get your existing ipod to work again, how about maybe buying a cheaper brand of mp3 player to replace it? Ipod really isn't all that much better than many other brands of Mp3 player, many of which sell for a lot less. You are paying for Apple's marketing and hype, more than anything else to be honest. A lot of people seem to look at an Ipod as some kind of fashion accessory, when it's really just an overpriced Mp3 player. At least if a cheaper Mp3 player breaks, at least you know it'll be inexpensive to replace.

The problem with buying a cheaper brand is that she bought this herself with her own money. I can't replace something that I broke (I grabbed her coat and didn't ask or look) with something cheap. It just would not be right. Now if she did it, I would be all for the cheaper version.

I cannot say how much I disagree with your approach. Since the mom ruined her daughter's iPod, she should replace it with the same thing. How would you feel if someone broke something you saved for and valued with something that was cheaper or inferior?

You've got it homeboy! I would not replace it with anything but the same thing (or better). It's not her fault that I washed it. Like I said, if it was her fault then I'd be all into helping her replace it, but it was my fault so it's my job to replace it.

I did this with my cellphone once and it never worked again. There is no use of drying it because it won't work anymore even if its dried up. I presume this is also the same with iPod.

Does your daughter know already about her iPod? I suggest that you better buy her a new one while she doesn't know about it. If she knows already then bring her with you when you buy her a new iPod.
