Default No router?

I have a 2 computer network set up through a router. Can I take 1 computer "off the router" so to speak, plug it into the cable outlet [ that's how I get the internet] in another part of the house and still be good to go?

What cable outlet are you talking about? Most people I know have already setup some type of wireless signal box to use instead. Sounds like you are trying to wing it.

No, I'm not trying to wing it, I just want to make sure I'm still connected to the internet, which I pay for from the local cable company, when the guy with the other computer, who set up the network, leaves.

The cable outlet I'm talking about sticks out of the wall, and it's the outlet that you screw the cable wire into that also screws onto your T.V. I was wondering if I could use that to hook up my internet connnection into since the cable and the internet are from the same company. I'm thinking that would work, but I don't know what kind of a cable or wire I would use.

You will still need to use your cable companies box for the internet. I do not know if you have your own box on top of that or not. But the cable companies box will be required.

You can run multiple cables from one box to hook up more computers but they would either have to be kept close together or you would have to run a very long cable to a different part of the house.
