Default USB wireless computing

I went to price a broadband router from Linksys and they seem to be moving to using a USB device instead of a card that goes inside the computer to go wireless. Has anyone used one of these who can tell me if it's better to go that way or an internal PC card instead?

I'm not sure what you mean. I have a wireless card inside my laptop. However, I still have to have a wireless router to receive internet signals. The wireless card inside my laptop will pick up signals from different routers, but only if they are close enough.

I do have the option of getting a range booster that plugs into the laptop via USB and they do help, just not very much. I have used one in the past and basically they allow you to sit in the parking lot of a business to use their free wi-fi instead of going inside, this helps if their signal is not broadcasting outside very well.
