Default Aloe Vera

I love having an aloe plant around the house. I just love the look of them as well as having them available for burns in the kitchen. However, I have no luck with them at all. I don't know why but it seems like every time I get one, it dies. I recently got another but it's not looking good. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

That's odd to me because I've found that aloe is a fairly easy to maintain plant for me. I've killed a lot of plants in my day, but never an aloe plant. You're right about keeping them around for burns - I'm such a klutz in the kitchen that aloe is a must have in my house.

The leaves I've managed to break off through one accident or another, I cut into one inch pieces and freeze in a zip lock bag. If I get burned in the kitchen I just get into the freezer and take a piece out. It's really great to have the soothing aloe and the cold of the piece too. I've learned you have to water them from the bottom. My mother in law says that may be what I'm doing wrong.
