Default Boiling Water Weed Control

There was a tip in a magazine just the other day that reminded me of what my mother used to do. If you have boiled vegetables, eggs, or anything else you take out of the water, take the boiling water outside carefully and pour it onto weeds in the cracks of patios, paving stones etc to kill them. Be careful not to get the water on plants that you wish to keep. This will kill the weeds without using chemicals.

Good idea Crystal! That is so simple I would probably never have thought of it. I like the idea though. I will have to use this tip on my pavers. I'm always having to pull weeds from between them.

Really? I've never heard of using boiling water to kill weeds. I'll have to try this for sure. My driveway gets weeds in it all the time and my kids have a hard time riding their bikes.

I will have to try this also. So simple, and yet I never thought of it.

So what exactly is it that kills the weeds? Is it the boiling water or is it something from what was cooking in the water. Could you just boil a kettle and pour the water over the weeds?
