Do you guys have a community garden in your city? I would love to start one in my city, but I have no idea how to start one or how to maintain the garden.

Any suggestions.

I'm not in the city, so I do not have one. I have heard of them before. I would start here and see what you can find out. American Community Gardening Association

I bet that would be something fun that most grade schooler's would get into if given the chance. Maybe you can start by talking to some of the local schools if they wanted to do a fundraiser/garden mix?

There is a community garden a couple towns over from me. It seems to work pretty well for the people involved. They all pay a certain amount per season and they are assigned days when they help with it and days when they can go pick whatever they want.

Thanks for that link Jason. I have a vacant lot not far from my home, and I've been tossing around this idea for awhile now. It's starting to look doable.

I'm not in the city either but I think it would be a great idea. Perhaps you can contact your local board and see what they have to say. You could always start one if you have a bit of extra room.
