Do you have to use fertilizer specifically for gardens to get a good result? I have just been using plain miracle gro and it doesn't seem to be helping very much!

I need to find something. My garden has not done well this year. It could be that we had floods and then a dry and hot spell, but maybe a decent fertilizer would help.

I've been using some compost. Works well for me. You can buy worm casing on ebay fairly cheap too.
