Default Green grass in winter.....

Do any of you plant that Rye grass in the winter time so that you will have a nice green lawn? Or at least those of you who don't have to contend with snow all winter. We are thinking about it this year but have never done it before so was just wondering how well it works.

The past few years I put down winter rye. I'm debating this year. I might just do some in the back yard to help with the dogs. They will get muddy feet otherwise.

It works well in Florida. In fact I have to mow every week when I put it down before.
