Default Growing Tropical Fruit in Zone 8 of the US

What tropical fruits are more suited to tolerate the colder climate during zone 8 winters? Also, what are some ways one could mimic the tropical climate and soil conditions these trees and plants typically thrive in?

You should be able to do things like a meyer lemon, key lime, clementine, and orange trees. It may depend on the variety of tree though. Like navel orange, or blood orange.

Thanks for the reply, Jason! Those are some good ones. I was wondering about possibly planting banana trees, in a pot. Crazy I know, but I've seen banana trees that look more like plants than trees, and I was thinking during the winter I could carry them inside.

It is possible. I have seen banana trees down here, but I was told they get either snakes or cockroaches. I cannot remember which. It may be snakes as palm trees get the cockroaches or palmetto bugs they call them here.

Yikes, either one doesn't sound pleasant at all. If banana trees attracts either one, I think I can do without them for now.

I would still check with a local nursery to see if there are any problems in your area. They may not have the problem like we do here.
