Default Heat and watering

Man it’s been so hot out that my flowers look like they might be wilting! How often do you water your flowers (outdoor ones)? Is there really a better time to water? I’ve heard that you should not water in the heat of the day but it might be the only time I can. Will it hurt them?

I've heard that it's not good to water during the day. I don't know why but its something with water and the scorching sun. I water in the morning and then again at night.

We have a soaker hose running through the garden. It's on a timer and goes off at 6am and 6pm. Those timers are really handy and not all that expensive - I think we paid about $30 for it. You can set it up for a soaker hose or a sprinkler and everything can get watered whenever you want.

The only problem with using a sprinkler is that you are also watering the weeds and when you do this, the weeds grow up faster than the flowers. I won't use a sprinkler - I use a watering can.

I think when you water in the daytime the sun is more attracted to the wet flowers and wet ground. It might just dry them out more. I try to get up early and water in the morning before work.

I have been watering before dawn. I figure that gives the flowers time to soak up the water and I hope it will protect them during the extreme heat of the day.

There is no way that I would get up before dawn to water flowers. I am so tired anymore these days I don't think it would be possible. Here we are only allowed to water every other day and between certain hours in the weekend right now.

I water my flowers and vegetable plants when I get up in the morning. I don't work outside of the home so I have the time to do so. It's better to water in the morning or during the day or you could get rot set in the plants.
