Default Keeping Chickens in town

I live in town but I'd really like to keep some chickens. I'd like to start working on a coop through the winter so that when the chicks arrive at Agway, I'll be all set for them. I don't even know where to begin though with the coop. Help?

Here's a link to a site that has a ton of different coop designs: Chicken Coops - How To Build a Chicken Coop. 450 Designs & Pictures Some of them look really cute and would be perfect for in town living. How many chickens are you planning on getting?

Before going too far have you check with town ordinances to make sure you can keep them? I know some places will not let you.

Other then that, backyardchickens.com is a good source of info on raising chickens.
