Default Moles

We have moles in the yard that are leaving tracks. I can literally see the ground moving when they a burrowing. How serious are they for lawns? What damage can they do? I hate to kill the little critters. I want to leave them alone, but I do not know if this is wise.

I have never even seen one expect on TV before, I would not even know what to do with one. I bet they are dangerous too if a cat got into a fight with one, don't they have claws?

Cats kill moles all the time - at least around here. I don't know how dangerous they are to lawns, but I would try to get rid of them. I imagine they would kill the grass in the spots they are burrowing.

I know my cat kills moles when he sees them. They are pesky little things. I'm not sure if they would hurt the grass though. Just go and kick the grass back down!

This made me chuckle. Did you know moles are very tiny? They are only as long as the tip of your thumb. At least the kind we have had. I don't know if there are different varieties. They may have tiny claws but, I don't think they can hurt a cat with them. Maybe you are thinking of a gopher type animal, or something?

They can damage the root system and provide underground paths for other small animals. But mostly it is the visual damage you see.

About the only way to remove them is trapping or killing. Most other methods do not work.
